As a former NCAA boxing champion in the 1950's for The University of Wisconsin, Bobby knew that jumping rope was great exercise, so he started jumping again. Wanting to be his own boss, Bobby started making jump ropes out of his backyard, wrote an instructional booklet for it, and started selling them any way he could, whether it was jumping rope in the aisle of a plane or on a street corner in downtown New York. This type of unorthodox behavior landed him on TV shows such as The Mike Douglas Show, The Tonight Show With Johnny Carson and On The Road With Charles Kuralt. People wanted Bobby's jump rope, and he could not keep quantities on the shelf in department stores like J.C Penney and Montgomery Ward.
